Eligibility to sit PERFORMS

The PERFORMS scheme is available for any individual who is currently employed within the NHS Breast Screening Programme in the UK and who is reading and interpreting breast screening cases, such as  

• Radiologists and Radiographers
• Breast Physicians, Breast Clinicians, Clinical Assistants, Associate Specialists and Breast Surgeons
• Advanced Practitioners trained in mammographic diagnosis and Symptomatics

PERFORMS is not suitable for individuals who are undergoing training in breast screening as it is deliberately geared towards being difficult in order to stretch the skills of those who are regularly screening – therefore we actively discourage people such as Radiological Registrars who are only rotating through breast screening from taking part as they will inevitably score poorly.

For technologists and advanced practitioner radiographers who are training to become advanced practitioners we offer the associated IMPROVE scheme which acts to help ensure that they meet a set minimum case reading standard.
